Frequently Asked Questions

Massage is a personal experience, and I want every client to feel completely at ease before their first treatment.

If you’ve never had a massage before, it’s natural to have questions—whether about the technique, how to prepare, or what to expect during and after your session. To help, I’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions, so you can feel confident and informed before booking an appointment.

Even if you’re experienced with massage, every therapist works differently—and I’m no exception. Raynor Massage may also be new to you, as it differs from many traditional techniques.

Take a look at the questions and answers provided, and hopefully, you’ll find it helpful.

If there’s anything I haven’t covered, feel free to get in touch.

  • On your first visit, you’ll complete a medical and wellness questionnaire so I can understand any past or current injuries, areas of tension, and your overall well-being. This helps me tailor the treatment to your needs for the best results. Once that’s done, we’ll begin your massage.

  • If you’re new to Eusoma Massage Experience, the 60-minute session is a great starting point. It allows me to identify areas of tension and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. First-time clients typically begin with 60 minutes before moving to a 90-minute session for deeper work. If you prefer a more immersive experience, the 90-minute session provides extra time to release tension more thoroughly. Many clients find that an hour feels too short, so if you’re looking for a full-body reset without feeling rushed, the longer session may be the best option.

  • Absolutely. There are huge advantages to having a regular deep tissue massage as part of your training (regardless if its a sporting or artistic performance). Studies show a 30% reduction of DOMS (delayed onset of muscle soreness). Shorter recovery time, breakdown of scar tissue, reduction of tissue adhesions, increased flexibility, lower risk of injury, and the list goes on.

  • Before the massage, I’ll leave the room to give you privacy to get comfortable on the massage table. You can undress to your level of comfort—some clients keep their underwear on, while others prefer to just be covered by the draping. For women, removing a bra is recommended to allow full access to the back. You’ll always be properly draped, and I’ll check in to ensure you’re warm enough. If you feel cold at any point, just let me know.

  • A full-body massage will be provided, or, if needed, targeted areas will be focused on as part of your treatment plan. Sessions typically concentrate on the head, hands, back, hips, glutes, stomach, legs, and feet—always respecting personal boundaries.

  • Please remove any jewellery, watches, and hair accessories before your session. Light deodorant is fine, but try to avoid perfume, heavy body or face creams, makeup, and, if possible, hair products for the best experience.

  • For hygiene purposes and to help prepare your muscles for massage, it’s ideal to shower before your appointment—preferably within a couple of hours. A warm shower can also help relax your muscles, making the treatment more effective. If you’re unable to shower beforehand, facilities are available for you to use before or after your session if needed.

Good foot hygiene (clean nails and skin) is also important for a comfortable and enjoyable treatment experience.

Light deodorant is fine, but please avoid perfume, heavy body or face creams, makeup, and, if possible, hair products.

If hygiene standards are not met, I reserve the right to decline treatment, which will be treated as a cancellation.

  • Yes, you’re welcome to use the shower before or after your massage—just let me know. Please note that shower time is included within your session, so it will reduce the overall treatment time.

  • Massage isn’t suitable for certain health conditions, and in some cases, specific areas may need to be avoided. You may also need clearance from your doctor or health specialist before treatment. If you have a health condition and are unsure whether massage is right for you, please get in touch before booking, and I’ll be happy to advise.

As a general rule, please do not book a massage if you have a cold or flu. Massage can worsen symptoms by stimulating circulation and the lymphatic system, making you feel more unwell. It also helps prevent the spread of illness to others.

  • I don’t currently offer pregnancy massage, as it’s a specialist treatment that requires additional training. Pregnancy massage techniques are designed specifically for the needs of expectant mothers, so I’d recommend finding a therapist trained in this area to ensure the safest and most effective treatment. If you’d like advice on where to look, I’d be happy to point you in the right direction.

  • Raynor massage is a deep tissue treatment, and I will work together with you to find your body root tension point to release you from discomfort and blockage. Massage shouldn’t be excruciating, but deep tissue work does target areas of tension, so some intensity is normal. This isn’t a light beauty treatment—it’s a massage that gets to work on releasing tightness and restoring movement.

I use a pressure scale from 0 to 10 (with 10 being unbearable), and we’ll communicate throughout to ensure the pressure is right for you.

Some soreness or bruising can occur after deep treatments—this is normal and a sign of tension release. Any discomfort should ease within a day or two, leaving you feeling looser, lighter, and more balanced.

  • Most people feel re-energised and lighter immediately after treatment, while others experience deep relaxation and sleepiness. In some cases, mild soreness or bruising may occur after deep treatments—this is a normal part of tension release. Any sensitivity should ease within a day or two, leaving you feeling looser, lighter, and more balanced.

  • This is perfectly common for some people, and it is nothing to worry about. The day after your massage it is possible that you may feel tender in areas where you had tightly held tension which I worked deeply into. Some clients will feel soreness, but this will pass quickly. The overall result of releasing the residual tension and the wonderful relief that brings should make up for any mild discomfort.

  • I use grapeseed oil which is one of the most popular oils used in massage and aromatherapy. It is hypoallergenic, meaning it is less likely to cause allergic reactions compared to nut-based oils.

Lightweight and non-greasy, it absorbs easily into the skin without clogging pores, making it ideal for all skin types.

Rich in linoleic acid and vitamin E, grapeseed oil helps to soothe and protect sensitive skin, while its anti-inflammatory properties can also calm irritation and reduce skin sensitivity.

Tiger Balm is used on the neck and feet, provided you do not have any allergies or sensitivities to it.

  • Many men feel anxious about this, and some even avoid massage altogether because of it. The reality is that arousal during a non-sexual therapeutic massage can sometimes happen—it’s simply a natural response to relaxation and the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system.

However, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You will always be properly draped, and if it happens, it’s not the focus of the treatment—we simply continue as normal.

  • Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your appointment.

  • If you are more than 15 minutes, your appointment will be considered a no-show, and you will be charged 100% of the session cost. If you know you’ll be late, please contact me as soon as possible via phone, message, or email.

Late arrivals will not extend beyond the original appointment time unless extra time is available, in which case an additional cost will apply.

If there are at least 30 minutes remaining of your session when you arrive, your treatment can go ahead for the remaining time. If less than 30 minutes remain, the appointment will be cancelled and charged in full.

    • If you cancel 24+ hours before your appointment → No charge.

    • If you cancel 12–23 hours before your appointment → 50% of the session cost charged.

    • If you cancel less than 12 hours before your appointment → 100% of the session cost charged.

  • No. I’m an independent therapist and do not work for any other spa or treatment facilities.

  • I do not offer mobile massage services (i.e., home visits).
